I. Introduction

Mission

“We are a community of Christ-centered disciples who Love God, Love Others, and Make Disciples of Jesus Christ.”

Vision 2023

"We are a family of Jesus seeking believers home to 50 members who are actively participating in discipleship and functioning within our designated pathway. We are a safe place for the hurting and suffering to receive hope and care. Currently, we are entering into our third generation of disciple making. By the grace of God, we have celebrated 10 baptisms this year. We are engaged in mission and ministries that allow us to reach our neighborhoods and the nations."

Pathway

Gather - Grow - Give - Go
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 8:1-6
“Tithe vs Offering”
Tithe - Hebrew “tenth” (Give for God to use)
Offering - a thing offered, especially as a gift or contribution. (Give in a way that you know how it is used)
Malachi 3:10 NASB95
10 “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.
“ God does not want nor need your money. God is after your heart! I do not want nor do need your money. I want to exhort you to give your heart to God.”
Genesis 4:3–7 NASB95
3 So it came about in the course of time that Cain brought an offering to the Lord of the fruit of the ground. 4 Abel, on his part also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of their fat portions. And the Lord had regard for Abel and for his offering; 5 but for Cain and for his offering He had no regard. So Cain became very angry and his countenance fell. 6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? 7 “If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.”
1 Samuel 16:7 NASB95
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Acts 2:44–45 NASB95
44 And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; 45 and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need.
Acts 5 Ananias and Sapphira (example)
“Money is a matter of the heart!”
Matthew 6:19–24 NASB95
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22 “The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. 23 “But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! 24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

I. The Encouragement

2 Corinthians 7:1-16
2 Corinthians 7:4 NASB95
4 Great is my confidence in you; great is my boasting on your behalf. I am filled with comfort; I am overflowing with joy in all our affliction.
2 Corinthians 7:8–11 NASB95
8 For though I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it; though I did regret it—for I see that that letter caused you sorrow, though only for a while— 9 I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that you were made sorrowful to the point of repentance; for you were made sorrowful according to the will of God, so that you might not suffer loss in anything through us. 10 For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death. 11 For behold what earnestness this very thing, this godly sorrow, has produced in you: what vindication of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what avenging of wrong! In everything you demonstrated yourselves to be innocent in the matter.
2 Corinthians 7:14–15 NASB95
14 For if in anything I have boasted to him about you, I was not put to shame; but as we spoke all things to you in truth, so also our boasting before Titus proved to be the truth. 15 His affection abounds all the more toward you, as he remembers the obedience of you all, how you received him with fear and trembling.

Conclusion

Why should I give to the church? How much should I Give?
Support the church
1 Corinthians 16:1 NASB95
1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I directed the churches of Galatia, so do you also.
Request for covenant membership.
I will give generously and consistently to the support of the church in a manner that reflects the generosity shown to us in the gospel.
Abraham to Melchizedek
Genesis 14:20 NASB95
20 And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” He gave him a tenth of all.
The Law
Leviticus 27:30 NASB95
30 ‘Thus all the tithe of the land, of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s; it is holy to the Lord.
How should I do it?
Psalm 24:1 NASB95
1 The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, The world, and those who dwell in it.
Should that be all I give? (see a need meet a need) Offering
James 2:15–16 NASB95
15 If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?
“God gives us everything and He gave up everything for us!”
